Specific objectives:
- Target population. Identify hard-to-reach women to address their barriers to cervical cancer screening services in Belgium, Brazil, Ecuador and Portugal and define a strategy to increase their participation.
- Implementation design. Improve the detection of high-risk HPV infections by designing a complete genotype test with simultaneous proteomic detection of the p16 and ki 67 biomarkers related to cervical cancer.
- Technology development. To develop a prototype portable HPV detection that can be used as an HPV screening tool, this device should be portable and should be user friendly and useful in diagnosing HPV at deployment points for low-resource sites.
- Social impact. To determine the social implications of the intervention for the detection of HPV (developed in objectives 1, 2 and 3) through acceptability and cost-effectiveness analysis in Belgium, Brazil, Ecuador and Portugal, in order to develop a Health Economics based study with the objective of supporting the authorities in the decision to invest in the strategy developed in the project.
